How engine tuning works on a petrol Kia Cerato/Spectra
Factory petrol calibrations leave margin for poor fuel and hot climates. A remap tunes the ignition, fuelling and boost maps to make better use of that margin, which shows up as livelier throttle response and stronger acceleration.
How the Kia Cerato 2.0i 143 compares
Of the 2 petrol Cerato/Spectra engines in our data, this one comes 1st for power gain, which is 2 bhp above the Cerato/Spectra petrol average of 15 bhp.
Across our whole catalogue the average petrol remap adds 27 bhp and 51 Nm, so this engine's 17 bhp and 30 Nm sits below that benchmark.
